The Consumer First Award is presented to an individual, organization or entity that has demonstrated the most “consumer friendly” program(s) or facility within a healthcare environment.
This year, the award was presented to Baptist Hospital East Cancer Care Center. The Baptist Hospital East Cancer Care Center ranks in the top 10% nationwide in patient satisfaction. The belief that technology may cure the cancer, but it is caring that heals the spirit, is very evident in the center’s design and in the attitude of the staff. Patients have access to top specialists in the field, cutting-edge equipment and yes, a prayer journal in the gathering room that helps many vent their fears.
The award was accepted by Karen Newman, Vice President of Baptist Hospital East and Chief Nursing Officer.
